- Extension
NewStatus in Roam: Three icons after a published page's title: status, stats and settings. The status icon is a globe, an eye crossed out when the page is unlisted, or a lock when it's encrypted: green when it's up to date, orange with a dot when it changed since you last published it. Each opens a pop-up about that page, with the same actions as Roam Publish: Page….
- Extension
NewStatus in Roam: Stats for each page in its pop-up: views, upvotes and readers' countries, with what's new in the last 7 days.
- Extension
NewStatus in Roam: A block published on its own gets a ring on its bullet, green or orange the same way.
- Extension
NewStatus in Roam: Blocks edited since their page or block was last published get a bar beside them, so you can see what a Republish would change.
- Extension
NewStatus in Roam: Status in Roam setting: Titles and blocks (the default), Titles only or Off. Nothing is written to your graph to show any of this.
- Extension
NewSettings and dashboard: Page settings in Roam, from the settings icon: visibility, byline, view count and PDF download, in your graph and in each of the page's collections, and Remove to take it out of a collection. Access and passwords are still changed on roam.pub.
- Extension
NewSettings and dashboard: Collection settings from Roam, for a collection's owner: name, description, bylines, view counts, Download PDF, Discover, search and RSS. Members see them without changing them.
- Extension
NewSettings and dashboard: A Roam Publish dashboard in Roam, from a globe in the top bar or Roam Publish: Open dashboard: views per day, upvotes, readers' countries, your most read pages, what changed since you published it, with Republish, and your collections, for the last 7 or 30 days or all time.
- Extension
NewPublishing: Publish to. Publishing something new asks where it goes: your graph, your graph encrypted, or one of your collections, each with how the page starts out there. It starts on roam.pub's New pages go to, so one click on Publish keeps the usual place. A collection picked is the only place the page goes.
- Extension
NewSetup and settings: Top bar button setting, on by default: the globe that opens the dashboard.
- Extension
NewSetup and settings: Ask where to publish setting, on by default. Off: Publish goes straight to where New pages go to says, and the status pop-up offers Publish with encryption next to Publish.
- Website
NewDashboard: Roam Publish 0.3.0 shows each page's views, upvotes and reader countries in Roam, next to its title.
- Website
NewPublishing: Roam Publish 0.3.0 can change a page's settings from Roam: where it's listed, its byline, view count and Download PDF, in its graph and in each of its collections, and take it out of a collection. Access and passwords are still changed here.
- Website
NewPublishing: Roam Publish 0.3.0 can change a collection's settings from Roam for its owner: name, description, byline, view count, Download PDF, Discover, search and RSS.
- Website
NewDashboard: Roam Publish 0.3.0 has a dashboard in Roam with your views, upvotes, reader countries, most read pages and collections. roam.pub now keeps each page's view count per day for 90 days, so it can show views by day from today on.
- Extension
NewSecurity: Password pages are encrypted in Roam before they're published, title included. roam.pub only gets the encrypted page and never sees its text or title, not even while publishing; it calls it "Encrypted page", and readers' browsers decrypt it with the password. Needs a Roam (browser or desktop app) recent enough to have X25519 encryption; on an older one, pages are published as before and roam.pub encrypts them, and the publish message says so.
- Extension
NewPublishing: Publish with encryption. The status pop-up for a page or block that isn't published yet has a Publish with encryption button next to Publish, and the command palette has Roam Publish: Publish current page with encryption and Publish focused block with encryption. It publishes to your graph as a Password page, encrypted in Roam with your graph password, whatever new pages usually start as. If your graph has no password that can encrypt yet, nothing is published and the message says how to set one on roam.pub.
- Extension
NewPublishing: Pages with collapsed blocks are published with those blocks collapsed, as you have them in Roam. To publish them expanded instead, set Collapsed blocks to Expanded in the extension settings. Readers can open and close blocks either way.
- Extension
NewPublishing: Republishing keeps the published page's open and collapsed blocks. Collapsing or expanding blocks in Roam alone doesn't make a page show as changed; instead the status toast offers Sync open/collapsed blocks. roam.pub remembers which blocks it has collapsed, so this works from any computer.
- Extension
NewPublishing: Add to collection… works for encrypted pages too, with no password to type. Roam Publish adds the page and republishes it, so it opens in the collection with the collection's password. If the page changed in Roam since you last published it, it asks first. Collections without a password that can encrypt are greyed out.
- Extension
NewSetup and settings: Collapsed blocks setting: As in Roam (the default) or Expanded, for how blocks collapsed in Roam start out the first time you publish.
- Extension
NewSetup and settings: When roam.pub changes in a way that needs a newer Roam Publish, the extension says so and tells you where to update it, instead of failing with a confusing error.
- Extension
NewSetup and settings: Pasting an API key checks it at once: the extension says which graph it works for, or what's wrong.
- Website
NewPublishing: Roam Publish 0.2.0 asks where to publish something new: your graph, your graph encrypted, or one of your collections. It starts on your graph's New pages go to setting, and a collection picked is the only place the page goes.
- Website
NewPublished pages: Open pages show a Public or Discover label after their title, next to the Unlisted, Password and Members only labels. Turn it off in a graph's or collection's Settings → Display with "Show Public and Discover labels".
- Website
NewPublishing: Publish with encryption. From Roam Publish 0.2.0, a page that isn't published yet can be published straight to your graph as a Password page, end-to-end encrypted with your graph password, whatever new pages usually start as. If your graph has no password that can encrypt yet, nothing is published and the extension says how to set one.
- Website
NewPublished pages: Download a page as a PDF. Turn on PDF download in a graph's or collection's Settings, or for one page in Manage → Display, and readers get a Download PDF button. The PDF is laid out for paper, with the title, author, dates and tags at the top and the page's link and page numbers at the bottom. Readers choose whether folded blocks print open or as shown. You pick the paper, font, text size and what's included; readers can change these for their own copy unless you turn on Enforce this style. Password and Members pages say the copy isn't protected.
- Website
NewSite: Links to roam.pub's own pages (the front page, Discover, profiles, What's new) show a preview card with the Roam Publish logo in chat apps and social posts, instead of no image.
- Website
NewDashboard: Pin a link you've shared. In Manage, open a place and click Pin link…, then paste where you've shared it (a post, a doc, a site). While it's pinned, roam.pub won't unpublish the page, take it out of that graph or collection, move it to Password or Members, change its password, or delete the graph or collection, whether you try on the website or from Roam, and the message says where it's shared. Republishing and switching between Discover, Public and Unlisted still work. Front pages and collection pages can be pinned from their settings.
- Website
NewSecurity: An encrypted page's title is encrypted too. roam.pub only knows it as "Encrypted page" (or "Encrypted block"), in its link, lists, emails and previews; readers' browsers that have the password show the real title, on the page and on its graph's or collection's front page. From extension 0.2.0 the title is encrypted in Roam, so roam.pub never sees it. Pages encrypted before this keep a readable title until they're next published from Roam or encrypted again. Links on other pages can't lead to a page whose title is encrypted.
- Website
NewSecurity: Password pages can be encrypted in Roam before they're published, so roam.pub never sees their text, not even while publishing. This needs extension 0.2.0; earlier versions keep publishing as before.
- Website
NewSecurity: Encryption versions. An encrypted page's badge says End-to-end encrypted (v2, encrypted in Roam) or Encrypted (v1, encrypted by roam.pub when it was published), with the code that did it, and so does its Manage dialog. Encryption versions explains each one; a v1 page becomes v2 when it's republished from extension 0.2.0 or newer.
- Website
NewSite: Upcoming changes lists changes that will need you to do something, before they happen: what changes, what to do, and how many extensions are ready. Signed in, it shows which of your graphs' extensions need an update. Find it from What's new.
- Website
NewPublishing: The Roam extension knows when it's too old for roam.pub. From extension 0.2.0, it asks you to update in Roam Depot when roam.pub has changed in a way it no longer works with, instead of failing.
- Website
NewSecurity: Add encrypted pages to collections without typing their password. From the Roam extension they open there right away. Added on roam.pub, they open once you republish them from Roam, or right away if you unlocked the page in your browser first.
- Website
NewPublished pages: Fold the whole page from its own thread line. A line now runs beside the page's top-level blocks, like the one under any block with children: click it to fold them all, and again to open them.
- Website
NewPublished pages: Hide the "On this page" outline. Click the button beside it to tuck it away; it stays hidden on every page until you bring it back.
- Website
NewPublished pages: Mermaid diagrams are drawn. A
{{mermaid}}block, or a code block set to Mermaid, now shows the diagram instead of "Diagram not shown", with a button to see its source. - Website
NewPublished pages: Copy code in one click. Every code block has a copy button, and its header names the language. Click inline code to copy it.
- Website
NewPublished pages: Zoom into any block, like in Roam. Click a block's bullet to see just that block and what's under it, with a trail above it to step back out. The address includes the block, so you can share a link to it.
- Website
NewPublished pages: Blocks collapsed in Roam can start collapsed on the published page, when the page is published that way from the extension. Readers can open and close them as usual.
- Website
NewPublished pages: Fold blocks away on published pages, like in Roam. Hover a block that has children and click the arrow beside its bullet to collapse it; a folded block's bullet gets a ring, and clicking again opens it. Click the line to the left of a block's children to fold or open all of them at once. Find in page still searches folded blocks and opens them.
- Website
NewPublished pages: Pages with headings get an outline. On wide screens it sits to the left of the page, follows you as you scroll and highlights the section you're reading; on phones it's folded above the page. Click a heading to jump to it.
- Extension
NewPublishing: Publish, republish or unpublish a page or block from its right-click menu: Roam Publish: Page… and Roam Publish: Block… say whether it's not published, published and up to date, or changed since you last published it, with buttons for what you can do (Publish, Republish, Make listed / discoverable / unlisted, Unpublish). They check the server for the latest state first.
- Extension
NewPublishing: Command palette: Publish, Unpublish and status for the current page or the focused block. Publishing the current page publishes the page even when you're zoomed into one of its blocks.
- Extension
NewPublishing: The public link is copied to your clipboard; publishing again updates the live page, or says nothing changed. Publish always checks with roam.pub, so a page unpublished or removed on the website is published again or says why not.
- Extension
NewPublishing: Pages use the website's words for where they're listed: Unlisted, Listed and Discoverable. New pages and blocks are published unlisted: only people with the link can see them. Make listed and Make discoverable are right in the toast; Discoverable puts a page on your graph's front page and on Discover.
- Extension
NewPublishing: When a page can't be Discoverable (for example, it has a password or search engines are off), the status toast says why.
- Extension
NewPublishing: Making a Discoverable page listed or unlisted asks first, as the website does, so a page isn't taken off Discover by a stray click.
- Extension
NewPublishing: Unpublish asks first, and says what's deleted on roam.pub with the page (access settings, passwords, views, upvotes, places in collections). Confirm toasts have a Cancel button.
- Extension
NewPublishing: Unpublish from the command palette checks the page first: one that isn't published, or that another member published, says so instead of asking you to confirm something that can't happen.
- Extension
NewPublishing: Every Roam Publish toast has a Close button, and toasts stay open while your pointer or keyboard focus is in them.
- Extension
NewPublishing: Add to collection… on the publish and status toasts puts a page in one of your collections, from a dropdown that says how it starts out in each one (listed, on Discover, password-protected or members only). When the collection is locked and your graph isn't, the page moves out of your graph so its graph link can't get around the lock.
- Extension
NewPublishing: Make listed says what lists the page. When your graph's front page is turned off, it says nothing lists the page yet, and the status toast says so too.
- Extension
NewPublishing: Embeds (every one, when a block has several), view types (numbered, document), text alignment and heading levels are sent. Block references are inlined, and references inside code and block-ref aliases are left as written.
- Extension
NewPublishing: Server moderation messages and reasons are shown when a publish is refused, and the Roam Publish block written for it is taken back out of your page.
- Extension
NewPublishing: Toast links only open web (http/https) addresses, whatever the server returns. Toasts are announced by screen readers.
- Extension
NewStatus link and change log: Publishing a page adds a [[Roam Publish]] block with the page's permanent Roam Publish Status link, and roam.pub writes a change log of what happens to the page directly under it (needs an append-only token). The link is for you and your graph's members, not for sharing; the block itself is never published. A status link you paste under an ordinary block leaves out only the link, and is never mistaken for the page's own block.
- Extension
NewStatus link and change log: Settings: Add Roam Publish block when publishing pages (on) and when publishing blocks (off), Block tag, Status link text (blank for the bare link) and Block position. Changes apply to existing blocks the next time you publish them. Reset Roam Publish block settings restores the defaults, since Roam keeps an extension's settings after it's uninstalled.
- Extension
NewStatus link and change log: Change log → Open settings opens the graph's change log settings on roam.pub, where its owner can check it works, manage the token, and turn it off or back on. The extension warns once per session if Roam stopped accepting the token.
- Extension
NewStatus link and change log: While Roam is open, the extension confirms every few minutes that those blocks still exist (uids only), so roam.pub never writes to a deleted block, however many pages you've published.
- Extension
NewStatus link and change log: Open in a page's status toast goes to its status link when it's published in more than one place (its graph and collections), where you can copy each link and manage each place.
- Extension
NewSetup and settings: Dashboard opens roam.pub at your API keys until you've added one, then at the dashboard. Paste the key into API key; the extension doesn't read your daily notes.
- Extension
NewSetup and settings: Author name, shown as the byline where the graph or collection shows authors.
- Extension
NewSetup and settings: Sync published list refreshes what the extension knows you've published, if a status looks wrong.
- Extension
NewSetup and settings: The extension tells roam.pub which graph it's in, so an API key from another graph can't publish this graph's pages under the other graph's name. Publishing says which graph the key is for and how to get the right one.
- Extension
NewSetup and settings: Encrypted graphs are supported. On a shared graph, pages another member published show their status only.
- Extension
NewSetup and settings: Defaults to the
https://roam.pubserver (changeable under Server URL, which must usehttps://, so the key is never sent unencrypted). - Extension
NewSetup and settings: Reset Roam Publish block settings asks before replacing your tag, link text and position.
- Extension
NewSetup and settings: Without an API key, the Page… and Block… menus say to add one, instead of showing an old status with buttons that can't work.
- Extension
NewDocs: README covers setup, usage, settings and what the extension reads, sends and stores.
- Website
NewDiscover: Collections have their own tab on Discover (roam.pub/discover/collections), ranked like pages: Recent puts the collections with the newest pages first, Trending adds up their pages' views this week, and Top adds up their pages' upvotes. Each tile shows a collection's newest pages.
- Website
NewPublished pages: Front pages are cards you can browse, not just a table. A graph's or collection's front page now shows its pages as cards with their first lines, tags and date, under a search box and tag chips. Protected pages show their lock instead of any text.
- Website
NewPublished pages: Folders on front pages. Group the pages on a graph's or collection's front page into folders, up to three deep, from the new Arrange tab in its dashboard: drag pages in or pick a folder next to each one. Pages with Roam namespaces like
PyRevit/…can be filed in one click, and read without the prefix inside their folder. Folders live on the website only, so nothing changes in Roam or the extension. - Website
NewPublished pages: Pick each front page's layout on Arrange: Shelves (folder tiles above the cards), Explorer (a folder tree and tags beside them) or List (the table from before, without folders).
- Website
NewDashboard: Take added pages out of their graph in a collection's settings: pages added from then on, from the website or the extension, stop being shown in the graph they came from, so the collection is where they're read and they can be encrypted with its password.
- Website
NewSecurity: Decrypt existing pages in a graph's or collection's settings turns off encryption on every page there that one password opens. It shows which pages that password opens and which it skips, such as pages encrypted with a different password, before you confirm.
- Website
NewSecurity: Encrypt existing pages in a graph's or collection's settings encrypts the pages already there, not just new ones. It first shows how many it will encrypt and which pages stay readable and why, such as being open in another place, and asks you to confirm.
- Website
NewDashboard: Settings warn before you lose unsaved changes. A graph's Settings and Sharing, a collection's settings, your profile description and the change log token ask before you follow a link, go Back, reload or close the tab with edits you haven't saved. "Unsaved changes" shows next to Save until you do, and Save on a graph's or collection's access settings waits until something has changed.
- Website
NewSite: Terms and Privacy changes are announced on the site: when either changes, signed-in people see a notice for two weeks that links to it, which they can dismiss.
- Website
NewDashboard: Encrypt new password pages in a graph's or collection's access settings stores pages added from now on encrypted with its password, so not even roam.pub can read them. It needs a password of at least 10 characters.
- Website
NewPublished pages: A page's status link has a Manage button on each place it's in that you can manage, opening that graph's or collection's dashboard at the page.
- Website
NewSite: The website has version numbers, like the extension. What's new shows which version each change came in, and the footer shows the current one.
- Website
NewSite: What's new tags each change as New, Improved or Fixed, and you can show just one kind.
- Website
NewDashboard: Turn off Listed pages in site search in a graph's Sharing tab or a collection's settings to keep its listed pages out of roam.pub search. Discoverable pages are always searchable.
- Website
NewDashboard: Turn off Show in roam.pub search in a page's Manage dialog to keep just that page out of search. Where it's Listed it then shows as Listed (Not Searchable), and readers see a Not Searchable badge by its title. Discoverable pages are always searchable.
- Website
NewPublishing: Choose what goes into the change log in the graph's settings: publishing, who can read, where it's listed, collections and tags. Merging quick changes and grouping by day can be turned off there too.
- Website
NewPublishing: The Roam extension can make a page Discoverable, not just Listed or Unlisted (with its next version). When a page can't be Discoverable, the extension says why.
- Website
NewSite: You can now reach us at [email protected].
- Website
NewAnnouncements: What's new at
/updateslists changes to the website and the Roam extension in one timeline, with an RSS feed. A small dot next to the What's new link means there's something you haven't seen. - Website
NewAnnouncements: A banner above every page for urgent news: downtime, an outage, or something you need to act on. It appears on its own when publishing, sign-in, published pages, the dashboard, the change log to Roam or emails run into trouble, and goes away when that's fixed.
- Website
NewDashboard: Shift-click selects a range of pages, and the selection bar can unpublish them all at once.
- Website
NewPublished pages: Links to a published page now unfold into a full preview in chat apps and social feeds: its title, the first lines of its text, its author, a tag and reading time, and a card drawing the page with the pages it links to. Password-protected, members-only and encrypted pages only show their graph or collection.
- Website
NewPublished pages: A page that's unlisted, password-protected, encrypted or members-only says so next to its title, and explains what that means when you hover or tap it.
- Website
NewPublished pages: Published pages show their view count, synced from our analytics. Members-only pages don't.
- Website
NewPublished pages: Links to pages that aren't published are marked.
- Website
NewSite: Privacy policy and terms pages, each linking to its change history on GitHub.
- Website
NewSite: A costs page explaining what running the site costs and when a small fee might come.
- Website
NewSite: Footer: source code for the website, the extension and the docs in one popup.
- Website
NewSecurity: A page that uses Password everywhere it's published can be encrypted with its passwords (Manage → Encryption), so the database holds no readable copy. It isn't end-to-end: roam.pub decrypts it to show it to readers. How encrypted pages work.
- Website
NewPublishing: Permanent status links and a change log written back into Roam under each published page. Owners can pause it or opt out when connecting a graph.
- Website
NewPublishing: Each page's history is shown on its status page.
- Website
NewGraphs and collections: Shared graphs, account-wide API keys, collections and access per graph, collection or page, with one vocabulary for access everywhere.
- Website
NewGraphs and collections: Tags, search and list filters on graph and collection pages; tags can be edited on the website.
- Website
NewGraphs and collections: RSS feeds for graphs, collections and Discover.
- Website
NewGraphs and collections: Bulk changes to listing, access and tags for selected pages on the dashboard.
- Website
NewGraphs and collections: Owners can delete graphs and their account.
- Website
NewDiscover: Shown as a ranked feed with upvotes.
- Website
NewSite: Light, dark and system themes from the top-right corner.
- Website
NewPublished pages: Tables, boards and embeds drawn in place like in Roam, with inline math, PDFs and iframes.
