Roam Publish

Upcoming changes

Changes that will need you to do something, announced before they happen. Once one happens, it moves to What's new.

BreakingPassword pages must be encrypted in Roam

In roam.pub 1.0.0 · announced 8 Oct 2026

From extension 0.2.0, Password pages are encrypted in Roam before they're published, so roam.pub never sees their text. Older extensions still send the text, and roam.pub encrypts it when it arrives. roam.pub will stop accepting that, so every Password page is end-to-end encrypted.

What to do

Update Roam Publish to 0.2.0 or newer in Roam: Settings → Roam Depot → Installed extensions. Anyone else who publishes to your graphs needs to update too. Roam itself has to support encryption: if you use Roam's desktop app, keep it up to date. After the change, an older extension asks to be updated instead of publishing.

Every extension in use is on 0.2.0 or newer where Roam can encrypt, so this can happen with the next release.
